Chamber Leader Out For Business Central Tampa News Tribune

Judy Gay wants business owners and residents to wear a path to her door. As executive director of the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce Gay knows the importance of getting out and networking. She drives around South Tampa in her convertible Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder looking for new members and touting the chamber s role in the community. Soon a sign on South Dale Mabry Highway will point to her office at W. Horatio St. I want this chamber of commerce to be a resource for the business community Gay said. And I want it to be a resource for the community. Gay took the job in August. She came from the Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce where she worked for four years in administrative sales and special events positions. We enjoyed having Judy with us said Tammy Bracewell president of the Brandon chamber. She was exposed to a lot of different programs here. Gay s cousin also named Judy Gay has held top positions with the Bartow and Lake Wales chambers. The Brandon chamber has two doz! en employees and members. The South Tampa Chamber has about members. This chamber is completely volunteer driven Gay said. I am the only paid employee. Our members direct the growth of this chamber what we have and what we want to be. Their dedication she said is absolutely inspirational. Gay was among applicants for the South Tampa job. Chamber President Ron Sweet said Gay s experience in Brandon has already been an asset in South Tampa. She is adored by the chamber he said. She is highly efficient. Gay graduated from Brandon High School. She has two grown daughters and eight grandchildren ages to . Visiting with my grandchildren is always delightful she said. She serves on the board of United Cerebral Palsy of Tampa Bay and enjoys gardening on nearly an acre at her Palm River home. The chamber began in as the Port Tampa Assembly of Businessmen. It became the South Tampa chamber in . Gay s main job is to encourage new membership and maintain existing members. She s a regul! ar at grand openings and ribbon cuttings. Gay also organizes the chamber s four monthly networking events and larger community events such as the Health Care Spotlight Awards to be held Tuesday at the Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore and the Taste of South Tampa on April at Hyde Park Village. Now that the chamber has opened its first full size office Gay wants the organization to provide business referrals and other community services. I know how Brandon relies on their chamber. NASA managers have scheduled a news conference at the Kennedy Space Center Fla. no earlier than p.m. EST Friday Feb. to discuss the status of the upcoming space shuttle mission. The news conference will begin after the conclusion of the Flight Readiness Review a two day meeting to assess preparations for shuttle Endeavour s mission designated STS . All connected some in big ways some small to events surrounding the crash. It is also why he came to the Royal Courts on Oct. the day before the inquest opened sleeping on the ground with his coat as a blanket. I thought the tickets would be in great demand. I had worried about getting in. I was the only person here at a.m. on the first day. Every morning since he gets on the court s public ticket line at a.m. The prize Ticket Number . He says that key players in the trial from Mohamed al Fayed to former Metropolitan Police commissioner Lord Condon to ex Dodi girlfriend Kelly Fisher to Diana friend Rosa Monkton have signed hisNumber tickets one for every day of the trial. He plans to sell them on eBay anddonate all the profits to Prince Harry s Well Child Charity when the inque! st is done. Diana was a few steps forward than everyone else says Loughrey. She was big in charity in helping poor people. She put her royal toe on the line to care for people. At the end of the day he goes home to his sister who paints his face as she has done every night since October with the two names that star in this inquest Diana and Dodi. It s too early to do it in the morning and I can t do it myself explains Loughrey who says he gets only four hours of sleep. I have to sleep on my back or else it will smudge. She endangered the lives of all of the people in the car and many more on the road even those who had to deal with the obstructed traffic after the accident. She could have ordered the car to stop and got out and walked if DODI did not have the driver drive safely. Traffic accidents cause far more deaths and maiming than unexploded mines. Not a single pence should be expended on futher proceedings in this matter if it was known that the driver had unlaw! ful levels of alcohol or other substances in his blood of if it was known that he at any time exceeded the lawful speed or failed to have himself and his passengers use any required safety restraints. The owner of the car and employer of the driver and the estates of DI and DODI should be charged for the full expenses of all the govenmental investigations. DI did DIE and DO DI did die as well because they encouraged the driver to violate safety laws and proceedures simply to avoid a few pictures from being taken. DI never ran away from cameras when she was holding child maimed by bombs then why was she shy of being photografed holding a man obviously maimed by wealth and his father.
