He built pedal cars for fun San Bernardino Sun

But Brown didn t create pedal cars to make a profit. The Redlands resident made the small pedal powered rides for his enjoyment and that of others. The man who held a lifelong fascination for cars died Sept. Brown was born Aug. to William and Mary Brown. William worked at a brickyard and Mary taught H. When he came home from serving overseas he didn t talk much about the war. Instead he was in a hurry to marry his high school sweetheart Roberta Nicholson. The couple were wed in and settled in East Liverpool Ohio. One of those cars was a Model A that he displayed in an outdoor car show. Tired of Ohio s harsh winters the couple packed their belongings and moved out to Rialto in . They were busy years for the couple. Roberta did the bookkeeping while he ordered parts and made estimates. Brown was good to his employees and they spoke highly of him after they moved on said his wife. He also liked to fly it on visits back east to see his family. In the coup! le moved to a historic house in Redlands and Brown was soon busy restoring it. He created this collection of meticulous cars that were just beautiful she said. Despite all the offers to buy Brown only sold a few of the pedal cars over the years. He was much more interested in creating and displaying them. He was happiest when he was restoring automobiles said his wife. That was his life.
